Join Indian Army after B. Sc Nursing as an MNS officer

B.Sc nursing graduates can join Indian Army as an Military Nursing Service (MNS) officer. Its depending on the available vacancies. Graduates can join Armed Forces Medical Services as Short Service Commissioned Nursing Officers or Permanent Service Commissioned Nursing Officers. Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview and medical examination.

Eligibility :-

Age :- 21 Year to 35 year

Gender :- Female candidates who are unmarried/divorcee/legally separated/ widow without encumbrances.

Nationality :- Citizen of India

Qualification : – B.Sc nursing candidates should have completed their graduation in the first attempt itself. And register in any state medical council as a Nurse or mid wife.

Physical standards :- Medical fitness will be determined as per standards applicable for Commission in the Armed Forces as amended from time to time. X-Ray examination of Chest and USG (of abdomen & pelvis) will be done. Minimum height should not be less than 148 cm (relaxed by 5cm in case of candidates belonging to Western Himalayan region, Eastern Himalayan region and Scheduled Tribes). Selection Procedure For MNS B.Sc nursing :-

Selection :- Eligible applicants will be called for an objective type Written Test of 90 minutes duration. Covering General English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Intelligence. On the basis of merit of written Test, candidates will be called for interview. Final selection will be based on Combined merit of Written Test & Interview, subject to medical fitness and vacancy.

Interview & Medical Examination :- Merit listed candidates of Written Test will appear for Interview & medical examination at selected centers. Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT in medical examination will be informed about their medical status by the President of the Selection Medical Board (SMB), including the procedure of requesting for Appeal/Review medical board.

Rank :- Candidates who qualify all the selection stages are required to undergo the pre-commissioning formalities. On completion of the pre-commissioning formalities, candidates can join as nursing officers in the rank of Lieutenant.

Those selected for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) are required to serve for 5 years. The service is extendable upto 14 years.

Promotion to the rank of Captain and Major will depend on the service rendered and experience of the candidate. Nursing officers can also opt for Permanent Service Commission (PSC). Selection as PSC nursing officers will be based on the vacancies available in the Military Nursing Service and qualification in the interview. The pay and emoluments for this post will be as fixed by the Central Government.
