Mejor Ponung Doming being first lady Lieutenant Colonel from Arunachal Pradesh

Major Ponung Doming has created history by being the first lady officer in the Indian Army from Arunachal Pradesh to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  


She is resident of Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, had been commissioned into the Indian Army in 2008. She had followed it up with a degree in civil engineering. After joining as Lieutenant in 2008, Ponung Doming on  the position of Major within four and a half years. Doming has also served briefly on a UN Peacekeeping Mission in Congo.
